MeimeiS is diagnosed Kawasaki Disease (KD)

Hey, I'm back.
Finally some free time for me to update the space.

If you're followed me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you should know that my youngest daughter, Sherrine, is diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. What is Kawasaki Disease aka KD? I have no idea what is that when the doctor told me about it too, thus I went Google for it and many of my friends who heard me saying that went to Google and told me about it too.

Look at the photo below. From such a smiley girl to such a grumpy girl.

Remember on the last blog update, I mention about that Sherrine is having fever on & off, diagnosed that it was UTI that causes her fever or probably teething? But it wasn't at all. All the symptoms of KD has already appear but as a Mommy, I failed to know that such disease even exist. Anyway, after that sleepless night, I went to sleep while Mom took over and look after her. Having only about 3-4 hours of sleep, Mom woke me up telling me that the fever came back again, and we decided to take her to the hospital.

We went to the KKH Children A&E on the 10th Feb. Done with registration and waited for Doctor. Visit the doctor and she check on her and told us that all of the symptoms show that she is suspected to suffer from KD.

(The day when she admitted into hospital)

What is KD?

KD aka Kawasaki Disease is a rare condition that involves inflammation of the blood vessels. It occurs only in children, usually occurs more often in boys than girls and usually is younger than age 5. The disease is not well understood and the cause is unknown. It says that it could be autoimmune disorder - which is a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroy healthy body tissues. The problem affects the mucus membranes, lymph nodes, walls of the blood vessels, and the heart.

Children with KD usually show symptoms of fever last more than 5 days, red/sore eyes, dry red lips, red tongue which known as strawberry tongue, rashes, swollen lymph nodes in the neck & swollen red hand and leg with peeling skin on toes or fingers. It was shown that none know what causes Kawasaki disease, it was shown that it couldn't be prevented and that none of the test can really tells that the child is suffering from Kawasaki Disease. They can only do blood and urine test to see if it is Kawasaki Disease.

The doctor took her blood and urine for test and I'll have to wait till the next day before they can tell me if she's really suffering from Kawasaki Disease. That night on the 10th Feb, Mommy overnight and look after meimeiS while I head home. Left at around 7pm plus with Dad, Grandma and Aunts. They came to visit meimeiS.

On the 11th Feb, I went around late morning. Doctor came and told me that Sherrine is diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease, because from all the symptoms and the test done, the doctor tells me that it is most likely to be KD so he asked if I want to take the IVIG. He is asking a obvious question, I do not have a choice, I have to take IVIG if not there ain't any more other treatment.

However, taking IVIG there is a risk. Because IVIG which is the only treatment for KD, it's dangerous as because this medication is made of lots of human's blood and thus, we don't know if there's any transmitted disease in the blood or it could be an allergy for anyone who took it that's explain the risk of taking IVIG. But like I've mention, I DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE. I have to take it or not, it will lead to her having heart problem in the future.

On the afternoon, they start to put on IVIG for her. While I went to the Family Court to settle the maintenance fee for my kids so my Mom took care of her before I take over the shift from her. I reach back to Hospital.

And the IVIG lasted for almost more than 12 hours, Half way through the medication, her leg couldn't take in anymore, so they've to pluck in the new place for her IVIG. Thus, they pluck out both legs and insert her hand.

The medication end at around 5-6 am plus in the morning.
I rest for awhile when meimeiS is sleeping.

This was taken on the 12th Feb morning, after her medication is done and all the 'wire' are removed from her. :') She's my strong baby girl and I believe that she'll recover in no time (Y)

After around noon time, Mom came over and take over my shift. In the evening time, Mom send me a photo of meimeiS smiling so widely. I'm so glad that our smiley girl are back. You don't know how happy I feel to see her smiling again after not seeing her smiling for more than a week. With that, all other test shown good result. Everything are fine. The next thing we had to do was to wait for her heart scan. And she'll be continue consuming aspirin.

On the 13th Feb, I head to KKH with Sister and Shervelle. She's missing her sister so much that she has been crying for her. The moment we alight and she sees meimei, she keep shouting for her. And I almost teared when I see it, because it feels like they're finally back to one another's arm. :'(

After that, they went home while I stay over to look after Sherrine.

Mom came in the morning because she know I was sick too, and stayed till 9 am plus. While Mom & I waiting for meimeiS's heart scan. It was done and we were told that meimeiS's coronary arteries is mild swelled and thus she has to continue aspirin for the next 3 months till her next scan which is on the May. I really do hope that everything is gonna be fine, and I believe and have faith that she'll definitely recover. She's always my strong warrior.

Before I end the post, I would like to thank everyone for their prayers. I'm thankful for all the concern and encouragement given to me/ Without the encouragement I don't think I was able to be that strong to overcome this. Please continue to pray for my little girl's health, I'm really thankful and appreciate it.

And anyone who's reading this, I've learn from this lesson that is if *touch wood* your baby is sick from fever or whatever it is and you find it strange or it's going for too long even after medicine is given, please do not hesitate or thought that it was nothing, or thinks that it might be this or that reason. Bring them to the hospital, get the test done, seek specialist for the sickness. You won't know if it's too late for treatment, I was lucky that we sent her to hospital on time for treatment if not things would have worsen.

Thank you God for hearing our prayers and bless her. God, I've nothing more to ask for, I do not need wealth or long live, I just want my daughters to be safe and healthy, that's all. Please continue to bless my daughters with health and happiness. Thank you, God.

With that, I shall end here and head to bed. I'm feeling really sick.
